Hungry Caterpillars

I have been holding on to these photos and now seemed like a good time to post them. Every time I see a hungry caterpillar, I think of the picture book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”.

Thank you Eric Carle, for bringing delight to so many.

  1. We had two children’s’ authors in my neighborhood. Eric Carle, who passed away a few days ago, and Norton Juster who passed away a few weeks ago and along with Jules Feiffer’s illustrations published “The Phantom Tollbooth”. Both were wonderful people who gave a lot of joy to children and their parents. Anyone who has watched a caterpillar munch its way through a leaf can tell just how hungry they are. 🙂

A favorite book of my little ones and many more. Yes, thanks to Eric Carle and butterflies everywhere!

  3. Nice, are those Pipevine Swallowtail hungries?

Perfect tribute to this great man. I think he’d appreciate it.

I hadn’t heard of Carle until his death, but I found a YouTube video of him reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar. So charming!

Oh! That was one of my favorites long before I could read.

The caterpillars in the first picture reminded me of tent caterpillars – though I don’t think that is what they are. Tent caterpillars can do so much damage to tree foliage.

  8. We read it to our granddaughter too!
