Update on Looking Like Spring

After posting today, I took a walk around the yard and found Azaleas blooming.  Normally, they do not bloom until the second week of March.

Wow! Quite early then. Turning cold here tonight after weeks of mild weather.

A friend in Nassau Bay has some blooming, too. On the other hand, her’s are weird, and tend to bloom three or four times throughout the year. She has no idea what’s up with that, but they are pretty.

    • I will bet that she has Encore Azaleas. I have some of those and they just put on a beautiful show for Christmas and bloom multiple times. The ones I posted only bloom once. I was thinking about Bayou Bend Azalea Trail, as they are warmer down there and the Trail is not until March.

They are blooming early this year. Beautiful though!

Lovely, what a treat. Are you having a mild winter?

    • Yes. We had hard freezes the last two years that knocked back my more tender plants. We are at the mercy of the winds (jet stream) and they can bring the Canadian cold or the warm Gulf of Mexico. Last week we were in the 80’s and this morning the 30’s. It is a balancing act for gardening.

Oh wow, that’s amazing. My Stokes Asters are blooming too.Hope there’s not a freeze coming soon!

  6. Wow! What a lovely January treat.

  7. I am freezing today, it was 39 here and our heat is on for the first time in a couple of years.

The flowers are beautiful, even if it is really too early for them.

Will they get ruined by the weather? Some of our are done already. The rain accelerated their demise.
