A beautiful ending to a beautiful day.  A ray of sunlight hit the Tulip Magnolia, perfectly lighting the bloom.

Lovely; I think the icy wind burned most of the buds on my Magnolia.

    Gorgeous and great shot!

  4. A spring favorite. My parents had one in their garden and it made their year if it flowered without getting burned. Terrific photo.

This is one of my favorite trees, and you certainly honored it with your photo!

Is that a Magnolia liliiflora or a Magnolia soulangiana?

    • Ha! I was afraid someone would ask. I don’t know. It is really tall with maroon flowers.

      • tonytomeo says:

That would ‘probably’ be Magnolia liliiflora. The Magnolia soulangianas that I remember lacked maroon. However, I have not grown them for many years, and more cultivars have become available since then. There were already too many in 1995! Just ten years earlier, there were only a few cultivars of Magnolia soulangiana.
