The Last Confederate Rose

Yes, I have bee obsessed with the Confederate Rose.  This has been its best year and the photo shows it at its peak.  It has been a pleasure to open the blinds every morning and be greeted with its blooms.

Beautiful– I felt like I could almost smell the rose’s fragrance when I clicked on the photo (though I’m not familiar with Confederate roses so I could be imagining the fragrance totally wrong).

    • Yes, it is your imagination. The shrub is misnamed and is actually a hibiscus. It is easy to grow from a cutting and was passed along in the South and is actually easier to grow here than roses. It would be similar to Rose of Sharon up north.
