Some More Cheapskate Ideas


Yogurt containers are good for holding clothespins which are used for pinning frost cloth.


Green produce twist ties from the market can be recycled for tying up plants.


Dry cleaning hangers can be cut and shaped for pegs.  The pegs can be used for holding down frost cloth, pegging plants to the ground for propagating and many other uses.


The plastic net used on wine bottles for shipment can be combined with bent dry cleaner hangers to make little cages around seedling that keep rabbits and other pests away.


Large plastic containers can be used to amplify an iphone or ipod  for listening to music or podcasts while gardening.  By not plugging in, one can also enjoy the sounds of nature.
