Clean Up on Aisle Nine

Vultures are nature’s clean-up crew.  Most people find them a bit repulsive, but they have an important job to do and are very necessary,  as are all the bugs and microbes that will come next to finish the work.

Oh, I agree! I gained a lot of respect for vultures when I saw a documentary on the vultures in India that were dying, and they couldn’t figure out why. They were learning the hard way how important that clean-up crew was! Anyway, they did figure it out – the vultures were dying due to a medication that was quite popular. It has been outlawed now, but I think there is still a big black market for it.
